Sri Lanka - 27. Feb. 2020
Actually, the conditions are not bad for the project. Sri Lanka, well developed for tourism, with many worth seeing destinations, lots of nature and friendly hosts. And big enough not to make a twelve-day bike tour boring. Start with obstacles After a night of sleep in a completely overcrowded plane on uncomfortable seats, there is […]
Vinh & Hanoi, Vietnam - 03. Apr. 2019
Vietnam The arrival is unspectacular. There is just nobody there. The sea has no interest for me either. Gray and a bit abandoned, it blends into the environment. So here is the final of my bike ride that began on the Bengal Gulf and took me through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam to the South […]
Laos & Thailand -
After five years I’m back in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. From there I am riding towards Vietnam to do the second part of my crossing of Southeast Asia on the bike. The first impression of five years ago still remains this time. How can such a small town be the capital of a country as big as Laos?
Hpa-an, Myanmar - 01. Sep. 2018
It is dark, cold and humid. I’m stumbling with no shoes over sharp stones and bat excrement deeper into this cave. In front of me a huge stalagmite is building up. I try to keep my balance on the slippery ground. He must be build up in thousands of years. A fresh breeze of wind from behind reminds me that I have almost reached the exit of the cave. The first sunbeams fall into the darkness and reveal the true extent of this cave.
Mawlamyine, Myanmar - 30. Aug. 2018
Mawlamyaing, Mawlamyine or Moulmein. Even the name sounds exotic promising. And even promising is the fact that this city is not on the “normal” route through myanmar. This is reason enough to visit this city once and find a piece of normality in Myanmar.
Yangon, Mawlamyine, Myanmar - 25. Jan. 2018
At first glance, little has changed. Yangon struggles to catch up with decades of military dictatorship. This succeeds in breathtaking speed. Meanwhile, it is an advanced metropolis and in the same breath with Bangkok, Saigon or other major Asian cities to call.
Delhi & Jodhpur, India -
A humid evening on a roof terrace in Delhi. A touch of jetlag will not let me sleep on the first night. Somewhere in the vicinity there is screeching music or what is perceived as such due to the exotic tone sequences and the volume.
Phan Thiet, Vietnam - 01. Mar. 2017
What is photographically to expect at the beach of vietnam? Sunrises? Romantic colours? Or is there more? You’ll get surprised
Mekong Delta, Vietnam -
The white spots of Southeast Asia – they have disappeared. Same to the population landscape of southern vietnam, the Mekong Delta?
Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon, Vietnam -
Each city reminds you of something, could be an image or an impression. It took quiet a long time for my impression of Saigon.
Ha Noi, Vietnam - 04. Apr. 2016
After ten days in Hongkong I’m in the mood for something real, dirty and Southeast Asian. Well, myriads of chinese derecognise the flights to Taiwan, so they crossed my plans and makes it easy for my decision. I am less than three hours in the city and breathe its rhythm, get lost in the bustle and discover […]
Hongkong, China - 21. Mar. 2016
Probably the most beautiful views in Hong Kong is the view from the Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Iceland. With a little patience you take the tram after only one and a half hour wait comfortably on this prospect. But has it. A sea of lights to the horizon, reflections on the water […]
Hongkong, China - 19. Mar. 2016
Initially as a trip to the largest seated Buddha (Tian Tan) Asia planned, the islands emerge as the secret favorites from Hong Kong. Here the landscapes and evidence of a Chinese past are still clearly visible. The walks on the islands are among the most beautiful moments in Hong Kong. And so I return again […]
Hongkong, China - 15. Feb. 2016
First, there is only one way, to escape the bustle and acceleration from Hong Kong. Visiting the temples. And in fact, you will find the peace that is missing on the streets. The noise plays although a rather minor role, but the smoke of incense sticks are not to be despised. It is the nature of […]
Hongkong, China - 01. Feb. 2016
Hong Kong leaves an ambivalent feeling. Originally intended as to obtain entry into the Chinese way of life, I will be disappointed as all prejudices seem to agree. The city is bigger, bulkier and more gorgeous than any other have learned so far big cities. This mass of people, these huge walls of steel, concrete […]
